Die G&G SSG-1 ist eine Weiterentwicklung der beliebten TR16 MBR 556 Serie. Die SSG-1 verfügt über einen aus Polymer hergestellten Body im aufgefrischten Design. Weiterhin besitzt die SSG-1 Serie die neue Generation 2 Gearbox mit Federschnellwechselsystem. Allerdings ist hier die normale rote ETU (ohne Magazinerkennung) verbaut. Neu an dieser Waffe ist die Mikroschalter-Abzugseinheit mit Mosfet. Ähnlich einer ASCU hat man nun die Vorteile einer Switchunit mit Mikroschalter. Das außerhalb der Gearbox sitzende Mosfet ist für LiPo Batterien geeignet. Hier sollten ausschließlich qualitativ hochwertige Akkus die speziell für den Airsoftbereich entwickelt wurden verwendet werden.
